 any takers?

I've swam since I was little and always loved it. Recently I've become obsessed with it; pulling and pushing and rolling (exploring) in water, working all major muscle groups, etc. It feels great and helps you look great.

But...just laps? and I'd like an emphasis on enjoyment (relaxed and aware whilst playful) over power (fast, agressive, etc.). Also, the more we can avoid chemicals (chlorine), the better (e.g. Almaden Lake).

I'm wondering how people feel about weekly (more often?) meetings in which we do some swimming activities that involve full body usage (e.g. an underwater, follow-the-leader "obstacle" course? relaxed water polo?)?

If we really get going, perhaps we'll throw in charity events related to the "relaxed and aware whilst playful, in the water" ideal (and/or water safety awareness, chemical-free cleaning information, etc.)

FYI: I'm a college student in San Jose for the summer, back to NYC in late August. I'd, of course, prefer events close to me, but will absolutely share the travel burden by changing the meetup location to various areas around the Bay Area (to accommodate dedicated members).

What a great idea.

I've always been comfortable in the water, and even now, prefer to play in the pool while my masters group is racking up the "yardage".

Each lap, I take the time to stretch my muscles, visualizing how the bands of cells are being stressed and relaxing in turn.

I will usually swim a lap or two underwater, really enjoying the glide and the water flowing over my body. It awakens all the nerves in my bod.

I'm in the fremont area, so find a nice pool where we can play and have fun.
